A domain name is the name of your website. For example, our domain name is recycleddog.com.
What does is mean to "register" a domain?
When you register a domain name, you create an entry into a directory of all the domain names and their corresponding computers on the internet. Your registration records that you are the current registered owner of your domain name.
Once I have a registered domain name, how do I get my site onto the Internet?
Once you register your domain and build your website pages, you need to choose a web host. We do offer this service if you are interested.
How long does a registration last? Can it be renewed?
Registrations typically last one or two years, but some domains can be registered for up to ten years. If you register through Recycled Dog, the terms and length of your registration will be clearly defined up front.
How much does a domain name registration cost?
If you go through Recycled Dog, the registrar we use is $15/year.
When do I have to pay for my domain name?
When you register your domain, you will be charged for the entire registration period at that time.
What do .com, .net, and .org domain names mean?
.COM typically refers to commercial buinesses, while .ORG was designed for non-profit organizations and non-business entities.
